Ride with a Ranger

October 9, 2021

Check-In at 8:30am * Ride Leaves at 9am

Join Bike Tri-Cities, together with the Manhattan Project National Historic Park, the REACH Museum, and Wheelhouse Bike Shop for a family friendly, interpretive bike ride along the Columbia River from Columbia Point Marina Park to the REACH Museum.

Participants will join National Park Service Rangers and REACH Museum staff for an 8-mile round trip ride from Columbia Point Marina Park along the Sacajawea Heritage Trail. There will be two stops along the route for presentations on the way to the REACH Museum.  At the REACH Museum, participants will have the opportunity to hands-on activities, walk the Energy Northwest Animal Trail, and explore indoor museum exhibits.

This event is FREE for registered participants.  Museum admission has been paid by Bike Tri-Cities for registrants.  Pre-Registration is REQUIRED to participate in this event.  Event registration closes on October 6th.  "Walk up" participation is not allowed.

The bike ride will arrive at The REACH Museum by 10:00 am. Participants will have one hour at The REACH Museum. At 11:00 am, participants will have the option to ride back to the start of the route with the rangers or return to Columbia Point Marina Park on their own at any time. Transportation back to the starting point will not be provided.

At check-in, participants will receive tickets to the REACH museum. Museum access is valid for the entire day.

Registration

Participants can register and manage their registration on the Bike Tri-Cities website at Ride with a Ranger Registration. Each participant over the age of 5 must register individually. If you register, and are no longer able to participate, please cancel your registration to allow others to participate.

Bikes

Participants must provide their own bike, helmet, and any additional gear needed including child carriers.

Several days before the ride, a basic maintenance check is recommended to make sure bikes are ready for the ride. Check the brakes, tires, tire pressure, and lube the chain. Wheelhouse Bike Shop staff will be available before the ride to help with any minor bike maintenance needs.

Safety

To ensure the safety of all participants, riders will:

  • Wear a helmet. Helmets are required for any riders under the age of 18.
